The declaration “Lisboa, Cidade com Direitos” (“Lisbon, City of Rights”), approved in May 2016 during the third forum for citizenship proposed the launching of a deliberative process which aims at adopting a Charter of Lisbon for Rights and Responsibilities. This charter will finally be adopted during the fourth Forum for Citizenship which will take place on July, 8th 2017 at the building of the rectorate of the University of Lisbon.
In accordance with the mission that was assigned to the Organising Committee of the Forum for Citizenship during the 3rd forum, the Committee is involved in the organization of territorial forums in partnership with juntas de freguesia (district councils), their networks and social components, civil associations of the city and the citizens themselves.
The charter and the collective process leading to it’s elaboration have a clear objective : to rally and involve the wills of all the citizens who aspire to a more central, city-scale, civic, thriving, participatory and deliberative democracy. A democracy able to transform Lisbon and make it a City of Rights.
The 4th Forum for Citizenship will take place on July 8th 2017 from 9 am to 5 :30 pm in the building of the rectorate of the University of Lisbon.
Entrance is free but prior registration is compulsory.
